Maritime Undersea (MU) is a growing business focused on delivering complex solutions from seabed to space! As a MU Senior Electrical Engineering (EE) Manager , you will be serving as the MU Electronic Hardware Component Design Capability Leader, where you will be guiding a bi-costal team to help ensure they deliver the best solutions for today's complex undersea engineering challenges.
Our products range from unique Integrated Mission solutions to highly capable Autonomous Extra-Large Unmanned Undersea Vehicles (XLUUVs).
As a Senior Electrical Engineering Manager, you will lead the MU Electronic Hardware Component Design Capability consisting of engineers in multiple programs and portfolios who are developing engineering solutions for electronic components and systems including both enhancing existing field units with the addition of new capabilities as well as architecting completely new systems.
You will need to collaborate with MU Chief Engineers, technical experts, and our customers, as well as provide technical support to suppliers.
The day-to-day activities of this position will include developing and overseeing the activities of employees working on programs with complex electrical systems over their complete lifecycle.
Our Bi-Costal team is located in Huntington Beach, CA and Herndon, VA - with active growth at both sites! This position is expected to be 100% onsite.
The selected candidate will be required to work onsite at the listed locations.
Position
Responsibilities:
Manage, develop and motivate employees and managers in a MU Electronic Hardware Component Design Capability of approximately 20 people Support development and execution of integrated departmental plans, policies/procedures and processes for MU hardware and systems development and delivery Define and implement MU business and technical strategies Hire, develop, and retain resources for contractual and company-funded activities Provide technical management of suppliers Lead process improvement initiatives The MU Electronic Hardware Component Design Capability Leader will report to the MU Electrical Systems Capability Leader.
Together, they will lead this team in developing and maintaining relationships and partnerships with customers, stakeholders, peers, partners and direct reports.
The day-to-day activities of this position will be a combination of direct program support and functional skill management and career development activities within MU.
Program support
Responsibilities:
Support employees' technical execution by providing subject matter experts and approaches, as well as techniques and tooling to define products, manage risks and opportunities, and resolve issues.
Ensure technical integrity and engineering excellence of all supported programs and company initiatives Establish and maintain a culture of standardized work management practices and proactive technical oversight Oversee and contribute to proposal technical content Define and implement quality monitoring and engineering metrics Provide short-term execution oversight for key start-up programs/projects and/or programs/projects in need of critical support Technology Insertion and Business Growth Support the technical integration, innovation and growth of the business, to include intimate knowledge of customer organizations and future objectives, and developing customer relationships.
Work with the MU Electrical Systems Capability Lead to create and execute strategies that further the MU business portfolio Provide electronic hardware component design requirements for technical roadmaps and investments across the portfolio Functional skill activities:
Talent management, including skill and career development of approximately 20 EEs and tracking and coordination of employee development plans Work cross functionally to ensure skill needs are met and skill utilization objectives are met for the business.
Includes identifying skill gaps and working cross functionally to develop and deploy training, etc.
to mitigate them Proactively establish resource pipelines that meet program requirements including security clearances Provide oversight for portfolio talent recruiting activities to ensure appropriate requisitions are issued and best talent is attracted and acquired Collaborate with Electrical Systems Capability lead to establish/maintain a tracking system that will ensure the EE workforce is properly trained and given adequate growth opportunities as appropriate Oversee the documentation and continuous improvements of best practices by collaborating with technical leads within the Electrical Systems Capability.
Act as liaison between MU and Boeing Enterprise engineering to ensure MU is aligned with the Enterprise strategy.
MU is a bi-coastal organization.
Its Electronic Hardware Component Design Capability Leader will be based in either Huntington Beach, CA or Herndon, VA with approximately 10% travel to the other site.
This position requires an active Top Secret US Security Clearance with a Single Scope Background Investigation and SCI/SSBI eligibility including in scope poly.
Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):
Excellent written and oral communication skills.
Demonstrated skills in leading large technical teams through all phases of development and Operations and Maintenance (O&M).
Demonstrated ability to work well with customers and suppliers/teammates, with focus on customer satisfaction.
Collaborates cross-functionally with multiple organizations.
Knowledge of electronic hardware design (eg CCA and firmware design) and life-cycle/process tools.
Demonstrated experience in leading technical teams across a variety of domain areas including space, air, land, and sea platforms and sensors from requirements definition, through design, qualification, fielding and support.
Proven track record in developing employees and working cross functionally to meet staffing challenges.
Demonstrated experience executing on multiple concurrent programs/projects or product lines with customers that span the Intelligence Community and DoD, both inside and outside closed areas.
Must be willing to submit to a CI Polygraph.
Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):
Special Program Access or other Government Access Requirements.
Demonstrated skills in leading teams in both development and O&M efforts.
Risk Management and Root Cause Corrective Action (RCCA).
Experience using the Enterprise Skills Planning (ESP) or other skill forecasting tool, and Workday.
Leading teams through the proposal process (for electronic HW aspects).
Cost Account Management using Boeing processes and procedures, including Earned Value Management (EVM).
Demonstrated experience in the strategic pursuit and capture of new market areas and programs/product lines.
Demonstrated education, training and experience with a variety of platform domains (space, air, land, sea), electronic systems, and operations centers executing end-to-end missions within the Intelligence Community and/or DoD market space.
Typical Education/
Experience:
Typical minimum 15 years of experience in an engineering discipline, and at least 4-5 years of Management experience.
