IT SPECIALIST

Summary This position is part of the National Archives and Records Administration.
The incumbent of this position would take on the responsibilities of Release Manager and Configuration Management Analyst.
The incumbent would seek a balanced and logical approach for managing software and hardware releases and ensure that accurate and reliable information about Configuration Items (CIs) are identified, controlled, tracked, and managed.
Responsibilities As an IT SPECIALIST, you will:
Assist in planning software development release changes for enhancements and maintenance.
Ensure the coordination and cooperation between internal and external parties to monitor change activities, testing completion, and system deployments.
Coordinate with experts from various specialty areas to ensure environments are protected, customer needs are accommodated, and interfacing systems maintain functionality.
You will be responsible for annual reviews, updates, and obtaining approval of the agency's Release Management Plan.
Prepare/review Version Description Documents (VDD) for all supported system software changes and technical upgrades.
Requirements Conditions of Employment The experience may have been gained in either the public, private sector or volunteer service.
One year of experience refers to full-time work; part-time work is considered on a prorated basis.

A one-year probationary period may be required.
Must successfully complete a background investigation.

Qualifications You must meet the following requirements by the closing date of this announcement.
For the GS-11, you must have one year of specialized experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-09 grade level or equivalent which has equipped the applicant with the particular competencies/knowledge, skills and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position and is typically in or related to the work of the position to be filled.
Specialized experience is defined as:
Experience in ensuring a balanced and logical approach for managing software and hardware releases across information technology (IT) projects; AND Experience in ensuring that accurate and reliable information about Configuration Items (CIs) are identified, controlled, tracked and managed; AND Experience with Software Development Life cycle.
OR You may substitute education for experience as follows:

or equivalent doctoral degree or 3 full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to a Ph.
D or equivalent doctoral degree.
OR You may qualify by a combination of experience and education.
Graduate level education:
A degree in computer science, engineering, information science, information systems management, mathematics, operations research, statistics, or technology management or degree that provided a minimum of 24 semester hours in one or more of the fields identified above and required the development or adaptation of applications, systems or networks.
Only education in excess of the first 36 semester hours (i.
e.
, beyond the second year) of graduate education is creditable toward meeting the specialized experience requirement.
All academic degrees and coursework must be from accredited or pre-accredited institutions.
Attach a copy of transcript or list of college courses designating semester or quarter hours earned to ensure proper credit.
In addition to specialized experience, individuals must have IT-related experience demonstrating each of the four competencies listed below.
