Research Microbiologist
The position of Research Microbiologist falls under the 0403 occupational series. To qualify for this position at grade GS-15, you must meet the following:
Basic Requirements In order to qualify for the Microbiologist, 0403 seriesyou must have a degree in microbiology. -OR- A degree in biology, chemistry, or basic medical science that included at least 20 semester hours in microbiology and other subjects related to the study of microorganisms, and 20 semester hours in the physical and mathematical sciences combining course work in organic chemistry or biochemistry, physics, and college algebra, or their equivalent. -OR- A combination of education and experience that includes courses equivalent to a major in microbiology, biology, chemistry, or basic medical science that included courses as shown above, plus appropriate experience or additional education. Minimum Qualifications Specialized Experience. Specialized experience is experience that equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the position, and that is typically in or related to the work of the position to be filled. You must possess 1 year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-14 in the Federal service that includes
Experience:
planning and directing programs and activities in a laboratory setting; conducting and evaluating laboratory research in Microbiology associated with the contamination of fresh produce by foodborne pathogenic microbial species and/or other related infectious disease prevention and control. NOTE:
